IPL 4: SET Max fixes HD feed rate at Rs 10 Cr

SET MAX has fixed the high definition feed for upcoming IPL4, demanding Rs. 10 crore,SET MAX fixes HDD feed rate at Rs 10 crore for IPL 4 Sun Direct is the only DTH operator that has a deal with SET Max for HD feed as it signed a deal last year.

Till Monday evening, none of the other providers of direct to home (DTH) service, an alternative to cable TV, had signed a deal with SET Max for the high-definition feed. High-definition (HD) feeds offer better sound and picture quality when compared to normal feeds. Broadcast in HD is also free of advertisements. As per industry estimates, there are 2-2.5 lakh subscribers of HD feed in the country, of which 1 lakh were added during the just concluded World Cup.

Volvo Cars will be unveiling the V60 Plug-in Hybrid – a virtually production-ready car with carbon dioxide emissions below 50 g/km.The Plug-in Hybrid which will be launched on the market in 2012 is the result of close cooperation between Volvo Cars and Swedish energy supplier Vattenfall.In January 2007, Volvo Cars and Vattenfall launched an industrial partnership whose aim was to test and develop plug-in technology. This cross-border initiative resulted in the foundation of a jointly owned company – V2 Plug-in-Hybrid Vehicle Partnership.Development work has been jointly financed. Now the project is on the threshold of introducing the market’s first diesel plug-in hybrid. It’s an attractive car type that gives the user access to the very best properties of both an electric car and a diesel-powered vehicle: very low fuel consumption and CO2 levels, combined with long range and high performance.

When powered solely by electricity, the V60 Plug-in Hybrid has a range of up to 50 kilometres. The car’s total operating range is up to 1200 km. Carbon dioxide emissions will be an average of 49 grams per kilometre (EU Combined) and fuel consumption will be 1.9 litres per 100 km.The cost of the battery pack means the plug-in hybrid will be more expensive to buy than a Volvo V60 with a conventional combustion engine. On the other hand, fuel costs will be one-third compared with a conventional combustion engine. The cost of running on electricity in Sweden has been calculated at about 2.50 kronor per 10 km. An electric motor is almost four times as efficient as a regular combustion engine. The car’s graceful proportions allow the twin electric motors to be placed above the axis of the rear wheels n a mid-ship position.These motors independently control the left and right wheels, and so the torque is optimized to ensure outstanding vehicle stability and control as well as efficient power regeneration. The motors produce enough torque in an instant for it to reach a 100kph in under 5 seconds.

Power for the motors comes from the same laminated lithium-ion battery packs used in the Nissan LEAF, but in ESFLOW the packs are located along the axis of the front and rear wheels. This centralizes the mass of the car and thus its rotation point close to the driver’s hips. These cleverly positioned batteries enable the car to travel over 240km on one charge.An aluminium chassis has been built around the drive train, taking full advantage of the opportunities that Zero Emission electric propulsion provides. Power cells are incorporated in such a way that they benefit ESFLOW’s strength and poise, not detract from them.

The high waistline afforded by the ESFLOW‘s classic sports car proportions allows strong, yet unobtrusive roll bars incorporated in to the structure behind the seats to safely take the entire load of the car in the event of a roll over, negating the need for obtrusive, thick, reinforced A-pillars and the blind spots they inevitably create.The ESFLOW is undoubtedly an attractive car. Crisp, clean lines not only convey the purity of its sporting potential, but suggest the clarity of electric power. Blue LEDs accentuate the futuristic lights slashed into the bodywork both front and rear. Where the Nissan LEAF‘s protrusive headlights are used to guide airflow around the door mirrors, this is not needed on ESFLOW as the mirrors have been replaced with minute rear view cameras at the base of its A-pillars. The cabin of the ESFLOW is clean and open and weight saving has been a priority throughout its design, but it is still a comfortable and pleasant place to sit. By far the heaviest components in modern cars’ interiors are the steel framed, thickly upholstered and increasingly motorized seats.

At last, the moment we are all waiting for arrived. All the scooter enthusiasts in India were waiting for this moment. On January 20, 2011 Mumbai International Motor Show (MMIS) will open its doors. The show can be visited until the 23rd. Some of the participants to the show are Volvo, Ford, BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Skoda, Toyota, Suzuki, Fiat, Honda, Mahindra & Mahindra, Harley Davidson, and Piaggio. Piaggio will be displaying Vespa LX 125 and Aprilia RSV4 Factory at the Mumbai International Auto Show. Vespa LX 125 and Aprilia RSV4 Factory will be available for the Indian market in 2011. RSV4 Factory has a price tag of $16,000 to $20,000 in the in the United States and the price of LX 125 is around $5,000. The price range for Piaggio motorcycles is not known for the Indian market yet.
Slow or fast, in a city or between two cities, Aprilia or Vespa… Piaggio is coming back to the Indian market with two of its best brands. Vespa LX125 is a shooting star in the arena of scooters and Aprilia is a supernova in the motorcycle galaxy. If we look back through last 20 years, we can see all the victories won by Aprilia. Aprilia won the Motorcycle Championship 33 times, MotoGP World Championship 254 times and Superbike championship 8 times. Maybe they should consider changing its name from Aprilia to Camarilla. In 2009 Superbike World Championship, Piaggio joined the race with Aprilia RSV4 and finished the race season as the 4th team. RSV4 has a very compact 999.6 cc engine.

Strict Telemarketing Rules introduced by TRAI

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today issued “The Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations, 2010”. This Regulation covers both Commercial calls as well as SMSs and will be effective from 1st January, 2011.

The new telecalling rules are pretty strict as compared to Do Not Call Registry and will surely provide a relief to telephone and mobile customers, who are bombarded and ripped with unsolicited telemarketing calls and SMS, sent through the service provider.

A brief of New Rules laid by TRAI is given below:

Customers can choose to be fully blocked (no calls, no SMSs) or partially blocked (specific categories only)
7 categories from which customer can choose are – Banking/Insurance/Financial products/credit cards, Real Estate, Education, Health, Consumer goods and automobiles, Communication/Broadcasting/Entertainment/IT, Tourism & Leisure.
Customer registration will be effective within 7 days of registration unlike in the past when it used to be 45 days.
Customer can register by ringing 1909 or sending SMS to 1909 (Toll Free). Customer currently on the NDNC register will continue to be under ‘fully blocked’ category.
The defaulting telemarketers will be liable to pay heavy penalties. First offence Rs. 25,000; Second offence, 75,000; Third offence Rs. 80,000; Fourth offence Rs.1,20,000; Fifth offence Rs. 1,50,000; and Sixth offence Rs.2,50,000.
A separate numbering series 70XXXXXXXX will be allocated for telemarketers, so that all telemarketing calls can be easily identified and customer can reject such calls.
No commercial communication, even for unregistered customers, shall be sent between 9.00 PM to 9.00AM, so as not to disturb the customers at night.

If you’re a Non-airtel mobile customer and want to move your mobile number to Airtel, then simply follow the steps below laid by Airtel to set them as your mobile operator:

1. You need to generate UPC (Unique Porting Code) by sending SMS to 1900. UPC is an alphanumeric code allocated, upon request, by a mobile operator to its subscriber for the purpose of facilitation of porting of his/her mobile number to another operator.

6. Buy the airtel MNP SIM card from airtel outlet / showroom. SIM charges, talktime value and porting charge are non-refundable in the event of cancellation / rejection of port-in request.

7. Airtel will send an SMS on your old/existing operator’s SIM (existing connection) intimating about the porting date and time, i.e. the date and approximate time till when you can continue to use your existing operator’s SIM card.

8. There will be a 2-hour ‘no service period’ which will begin after the porting time as given above. The ‘no service period’ will be between 12 midnight to 5 am during which your mobile service will not be active on any SIM. All efforts will be made to ensure that this ‘no service period’ causes minimum inconvenience to you.

9. After the ‘no service period’, you can replace your existing operator’s SIM card with the new airtel SIM card in your handset.

Zumocast is an app designed for both iPhone and iPad which is able to turn a computer into a personal cloud that can stream video to these devices. The app uses a web-based interface and no upload or sync are required because the videos and music stay on your computers!

Zumocast is a well known product, released previously for iPhone and iPod Touch which allowed to stream media from any computer to your iPhone and iPod Touch. Now, the company launched the same app for iPad, with a redesigned interface for this platform.

What You Have To Do:

Technically you link your computer to their online service and then run the application on your iPad. While setting it up you will need to share folders which has your music and videos or even files. The application running on your iPad then locates your computer and streams video and audio to your computer.

Now for doing this you need to have internet connection but if your iPad and PC or Mac or on same network, it will stream them over the network which means at home you don’t consume any bandwidth but if lets say if you are at office and want to watch movie then it bandwidth consumption takes place. But since this application also lets you download movies to your iPad from your computer you can temporarily download and delete it when you have watched the movie enough.

It also adjusts video quality according to the speed of the network. It also works over 3G.

Another excellent feature is that you will be able to transfer files from your computer to the iPad with only one click. Just by pressing a button on your iPad it will automatically download the file from your computer and save it in an IOS format to enjoy your choosen file at any time.

Drawbacks

The drawback to this application is it needs internet connection to link your computer and iPad even if you are on the same network. Probably that’s required for authentication but once connected you can just disconnect and still watch your movies and listen to songs.
